Oregon law requires that every child support order include a provision for medical support. There are two types of medical support:
Health care coverage - If a parent can provide medical insurance for their children privately, through a public program, or through an employer the party may be ordered to do so.
Cash medical - If neither parent has access to healthcare for their children, cash medical support may be ordered. Cash medical support is the additional amount a parent is ordered to pay to help with the cost of heath care coverage by the other parent or to help with the uninsured medical expenses of the child.
If you have questions about how medical support is calculated or other questions specific to your case please contact your case manager.
